Josephine Carithers

Josephine Carithers, 90, died August 9, 2014.
Born November 22, 1923 in Oglethorpe County, she was the daughter of the late Mell and Ola Webb Carithers. She was educated in the public school of Madison and Oglethorpe Counties and graduated from Comer High School in 1940. Mrs. Carithers graduated from Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Junior College, Piedmont College and the University of Georgia.
Mrs. Carithers taught for forty years in the public schools in Barrow, Cobb, Madison and Oglethorpe Counties and was a member of the Madison County Retired Educators. She was a member of Cloud's Creek Baptist Church since August of 1937, was a church clerk, Discipleship Training Director and Sunday School Teacher.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 2:30 PM at Cloud's Creek Baptist Church with Rev. John Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include several cousins and extended family members.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the Cloud's Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, Danielsville, is in charge of arrangements.
